Everyone Needs to Read Annual Campaign 2012
On March 30th, we launched our first ever annual campaign to support adult readers in Kalamazoo county. We are asking the community to help provide quality literacy education to adults in the county, and to empower them to reach their full potential by supporting the Everyone Needs to Read Annual Campaign. Please do your part to help us end their struggle with illiteracy.
Your Contribution WILL Make a Difference!
$50 provides for training materials and workbooks for one volunteer tutor and one adult learner.
$100 provides annual subscriptions (newspapers, books and magazines) for 10 adult learners.
$250 provides for printing of Everyone Needs to Read bookmarks and fliers to reach out to adult learners who want to learn to read and to prospective tutors who want to help.
$500 provides scholarships for 10 tutors to attend training workshops to sharpen their skills.
$1,000 supports the expansion of the New Readers Library -- a collection of reading materials for adult learners with topics including work, health, family, and fiction. The library is also for tutors to use in the instruction of their students.
$2,500 funds the books, supplies and other start-up costs for a Community Literacy Center that can serve hundreds of adult learners annually.
